DETAILS: In addition to being very important to the overall plot of the site Aelin is also involved in two subplots.
Journey to the PastThe Telimar Twins, Jackline and Connor, come back in time to help end the war that cause havoc in their own time. And shortly are joined by their baby sister Jocelyn Elanis, whose very existence is being threatened by the hostility between the races. But while they all came back to help alter the state of war each had their own, more selfish motives for returning as well.
Jackline was despised by her father for being a girl in a line that had long been only boys. From the moment she was born her hated her and never for a moment let her forget that fact. But in truth the witch princess is more powerful than her brother and while she is in the past, she intends to prove that to her father and hopefully gain his respect if not his approval.
Connor is the opposite. Aelin always loved him best because he was the boy and heir. It was Pheobe that the prince never connected with. The Lady of Barena was always busy with her daughters and tended to neglect her son, as he always seemed to be busy doing one thing or another with Aelin. He wants to convince his mother that, even though he has his father teaching him, he still needs his mother too.
For little Jocelyn, Aelin was the only father she ever knew, her true father Jack having been killed on Aelin's orders, and he despised her if possible more than he did Jackline. She knows he will never love her they way he does Connor, but all she really wants is for him to be a father to her. To not ignore her on good days, and attack her on bad ones.
In addition to all of that, Aelin and Pheobe's relationship is a bit rocky because of Pheobe's affair a year earlier. There has been talk between them of divorcing, and at the moment only the children are keeping them together. But from the news they've heard of their future they wonder if there is still any point in trying to patch up their relationship.
Will Jackline be able to earn her fathers respect? Or will she grow up the same way, hated and hurt because she is female? Will Connor be able to create a relationship with his mother? Or will he remain hard and cold from only knowing his evil father? Will Jocelyn get the father she always wanted? Or will the attempt only make things worse for herself? And will Aelin and Pheobe be able to salvage their relationship? Or will knowing their future difficulties cause them to give up on happiness forever?
Hidden Royalty and Secret Agendas ((he is a bit less involved in this plot but still needed))
Hundreds of years ago, when the fairies first settled in Farlan, there were two brothers who led their winged-people into their new land. They agreed and settled an agreement between themselves that their newly created families would take turns ruling, one ruling each generation. Well, this worked out quite well for the first three or so generations. But then the descendant of the older brother realized that because his father was ruling, he would never get the chance himself. So he killed his cousin making himself the only one available to rule. And so the rule of the Ivanti line began.
But what he didn't realize was that his cousin had wed secretly and that their was in fact an heir out there. And now hundreds of years later the line of the younger brother still existed, hidden even from the Darkmoon family itself. Until that is the witch lord comes across the old legend in his search for a way to take over Amana. He quickly realizes that he can use this to his advantage, to get rid of the Ivanti's, who as far as fairies go are powerful and a danger to his plans, but he can also use this to get a ruler her controls on the throne, making his own take over much easier.
So the little girl, Drusilla, was taken alive while her family was killed. They told her that the Ivanti's had ordered it. And the child was raised with a two-fold goal, to kill the Ivanti's and take her rightful place on the throne. A young witch, Melinda Swan, was charged with the duty of raising the fairy because of first her the extent of her power, and knowledge of fairy magic. And also because of her loyalty to Aelin.
Now 16 years later, Drusilla has stationed herself in the Ivanti household and is positioned for a simple take over as soon as Aelin, or as far as Dru knows, Melinda, gives the command.
Will an old fairy legend of betrayal be made right? Or will the Ivanti's be able to keep their throne? Will Drusilla be able to get her revenge on the people she belives are responsible for the death of her family? Or will she lose her own life in the struggle?
