OBSCURITE MUSICALE RPG PLOT: (Musicals marked with asterisks have just been added for OM's one year anniversary.) Alternate-Universe Account-Per-Player Paris 1800-1870 Combination of 5 Musicals Total: Sweeney Todd, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Jekyll & Hyde*, Oliver!* When maintaining a cross-over RPG, it is essential to tweak certain things about each story in order to make a coherent, accessible plot. Everything must be woven together to become one. The chosen focus of this RPG is the characters, and their interaction and development. As such, certain things that are to come in the original canon plot of the musicals, will either not happen at all, or will come about in a different way, a way best suited to the members who play the characters. Certain aspects of the plot which are 'may or may not's are left to the members involved to decide. All three musicals are, for the sake of this particular RPG, set in a fictitious Victorian Paris, where many other European nationalities reside. This way, the names and accents of the English musicals' characters, as well as any other British characters that may be created, can legitimately exist among the Parisians. The exact year isn't really defined, though we can approximate the present date to be somewhere around mid-1800. CHARACTER DETAILS: ERIK, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA This is very brief. Bear with me. We need a writer who will respect the fact that he is a man of many talents and can, potentially, be a godmodding character - therefore we need someone who will know how to write him with that limitation. He's brilliant - a musician, an artist, a ventriloquist, an architect, and many more talents. However he is also very violent with a very quick temper, and has murdered in the past. He is fully in love with the soprano Christine Daae, and will essentially stop at nothing to have her for his own. As you all probably know if you're reading this, he's disfigured and lives five cellars below the Opera House. He teaches Christine from behind her dressing room mirror as the 'Angel of Music'. There is obviously a lot, LOT more to him. Therefore, I expect you to have thorough knowledge of the character before e-mailing me. I am going to be very critical. We are, essentially, treating this a bit like a competition. Others have been e-mailed and asked for auditions, and there is one person on the site who is currently NPC-ing him for the time being, but that, obviously, will not last forever, :] Like I said, I am treating this as a competition and I only expect your best effort if you e-mail to audition; we look for quality, not quantity. But if you need to write 800 words to make it your best quality, do so. However if you are selected to play Erik and are threading with someone, I cannot and will not guarantee they will match your post length every time. YOU MUST BE WILLING TO BE ACTIVE AND REMAIN ACTIVE. We have already gone through three Eriks, all of which have had to drop the character shortly after taking him due to various reasons that I will not list. I, personally, do not want someone who will be active for a week and leave, because I write Christine. The main administrator writes Mme. Giry, as well. The Phantom is a very large role to take on, and I expect whoever gets him to be able to do it and to do it well. You must be willing to be a stable, secure member and give the character a sense of stability as well to fill the place. SHOULD YOU WANT TO AUDITION: E-mail me, Eliza, at the e-mail listed below. I will be showing it to the main administrator, as I am only a co-admin. I do not want this to be an easy, snap decision for us to make. Erik is a critical character that the Phantom section of the board relies heavily on. Without him, we do not progress in the story so easily. If you should be selected, you MUST contact the main administrator, via PM, first to discuss the Giry/Erik relationship because I do not personally know what she would like to do with it.
